We have spent several years designing and proving our solutions in partnership with clients who operate in globally complex environments, because they (and we !) had become frustrated with trying to fit square hierarchical training solutions into round matrix training need holes ! The Matrix LEAD Influener BTI™, EPIC™, PIP™ and the MaCE LDR™, together with several other matrix specific processes and techniques result from that ongoing research and feature in our Training and Coaching solutions.

Many of our clients found over the years (often through costly and bitter experiences), that 'fixing' a structure, stream-'lean-ing' a process, or applying performance incentives that simply sustain hierarchical behaviours and mindsets. Only ever generates iterative change, and are probably best left to organisations who operate in predictable markets and stable economies - and as recent world events have shown, that is no longer a prospect for any type of organisation !

Some training, coaching and even consulting providers often suggest they deliver 'matrix solutions'. But when you ask them what's actually 'matrix specific' about their offerings, they usually go on to describe solutions based on practices and techniques designed to deliver structural or process improvements in 20th century hierarchical organisations, and not 21st century matrix based ones !

The type of organisations that are using new forms of fluid, inclusive, matrix types of structure today realise that concepts such as Social (Web 2) Networking, Generational 'X' and 'Y' (or 'V' vrtual') awareness and preparedness, multi-dimensional self-directed team working and collaborative leadership practices are not theoretical concepts, but working realities that have to be understood and managed today in order to compete in the future, today.

Global social and technological integration, coupled with greater holistic (end to end) processes thinking and inclusive work practices have fundamentally transformed the way organisations work. And has caused a radical re-think about strategic planning methods, operational organising and the kind of behaviours that are needed at every level, simply to remain competative.

The kind of structural 'fixes' most providers offer do not attempt to address these infinitely more complex and ambiguous 21st century work issues, which is surprising given that organisations are increasingly using more 'matrixed' ways of behaving, thinking, working and leading, not less !
