The Matrix and Complex Environment (MaCE) Leadership Diagnostic Report (LDR) ™ is the result of several years extensive research working with our clients to discover the beliefs, behaviours, knowledge and skills they considered critical for effective leadership in matrix organisations and complex environments.

Working in partnership with our clients, we have identified 7 key Capability Areas that can be developed individually (through self-directed learning or with the support of a Manager, Coach or Mentor); collectively (via Leadership, Management or Talent development programs); or in Development Centre contexts to support personal development and self awareness raising.

The MaCE LDR™ acts like a bespoke, matrix specific, personal development plan (PDP), incorporating a range of practical tools, tips and techniques that are specifically targeted to increase someone's ability to lead and engage people when working in dynamic, cross-relational operating structures; or in leadership roles containing high levels of complexity and ambiguity, such as those typically found in Project, Process, Support Service, Business Partner, Advisory or Change Agent environments.

The MaCE LDR™ has proven so successful that many of our clients now use it to design their own learning interventions based on the information the MaCE LDR’s generate. Some have gone further, incorporating collective data from individual reports into balanced scorecards, in order to make a direct link between business area results and matrix specific training.

We use the MaCE LDR™ to help our clients to identify which kind of matrix training will operationally generate the quickest return on investment for any given target audience.

We can measure the value of the development spend against the actual personal learning that has taken place, by re-administering the 84 item MaCE LDR™ questionnaire to the same audience at regular intervals after our matrix specific learning interventions have taken place.
