The Matrix LEAD (Logical, Empathy, Action, Difference) Influencer Behavioural Traits Indicator (BTI)™ is specifically designed to help people work more effectively in matrix structures and cross-functional, project or process roles that require them to develop and use an 'Influencing Without Authority' capability.
The LEAD Influencer is based on proven psychometric principles and scientific consensus on the Big 5 ‘traits’ that all humans share. It provides a unique insight into the way these aspects of our personality drive and influence our motivations, thinking, perceptions and behaviours. And unlike most personality type instruments, the Big Five (or Five Factor Model) is supported with substantial ongoing scientific research, and evidence based in all kinds of different organisational contexts.
The Matrix LEAD Influener BTI™ uses a 50 item, self report questionnaire to establish an indication of someone's inherent Big 5 traits. When plotted onto a scoring framework, a visual picture of influencing preferences emerge, enabling people to quickly recognise not only their primary influencing preference; but also secondary preferences which if left undeveloped can reduce someone's ability to influence and build, meaningful collaborative relationships.
Traits remain relatively consistent over adult lifetimes and act like 'personality DNA'. Everyone has all the Big Five traits in their psychological makeup and collectively they operate like independent, but inter-dependent, ‘volume' controls, typically with one set slightly louder than the others (one of the LEAD preferences), and one that acts like a 'bass' control (the 'Influencer' level).
The LEAD Influencer is unique not only because of its reliability, ease of administration, questionnaire completion and practical application into work contexts; but also because of the way in which it enables people to quickly identify and influence stakeholders without having to 'pretend' to be someone else. The instrument can also be used with supplemental Matrix Intelligence™ materials, which enables Facilitation Professionals to enhance participants learning experiences individually and collectively, by using 'matrix specific' information that is relevant to people working in multi-dimensional operating structures.
